By 2006, the county square in Elkton had a very new look. Many of the concepts originally envisioned only a few years before had been implemented. The old courthouse had been converted into a tourism office, the historic clock had been restored, new lighting and landscaping around the square had brought new business to downtown, and an even greater vision for downtown was being developed.
